UK Consumer Spending Up by 3 PercentConsumers in the UK have increased their spending by 3 percent on the month on month rate, which is thought to be the strongest growth recorded by the government since May 2009. The improvements in the monthly finances of the general UK public have contributed to having an increase in the spending rates for this period, according to Visa Europe’s expenditure index of the country. However, there are still many things to do such as improve the job market and make changes on the disposable incomes of the people in order to push the economy forward. There is a low consumer confidence that has been dragging down the economy in the last couple of months. According to Chris Williamson who is the chief economist from Markit, “Going forward, it seems likely that consumer spending will help boost the economy to a greater extent than it has done over the past two years, due to recent improvements in disposable incomes, lower inflation and rising employment.
